LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

Our learning environment reflects our philosophy and recognises that children are capable and resourceful. Our educators support each child’s learning by providing a stimulating environment with warm and caring relationships built on respect and trust of children and their families.

Each day children are actively encouraged to play in large outdoor and indoor areas that are well equipped and allow children to explore, develop curiosity, competence and independence by learning through play. Experiences provided include art, construction, dramatic play, gardening, cooking, sensory play, drawing and writing, music, stories, literacy and maths activities. Children are encouraged to choose their area of interest and are also encouraged to join small and large group activities and be involved in collaborative projects with other children.

Children can enjoy playing in our two large outdoor spaces and we encourage them to be environmentally responsible and learn about sustainable practices such recycling, composting and showing respect for our natural environment by growing vegetables and bush tucker and caring for plants, animals and insects. Research indicates (Broom, C) that when children have regular access to a natural space, one which they love and form a relationship with, they are more likely to adopt and carry these positive environmentally attitudes into their adult lives.

We have regular visitors and outings to extend children’s learning and families are welcome to share their skills and participate in our preschool. The daily program is flexible and based on the individual needs of each child. Activities are planned, based on the Early Years Learning Framework and are documented and displayed by our educators. Parents are given regular feedback of their child’s development.
