PHILOSOPHY

The staff at Miranda Kindergarten believe in every child’s right to quality care and education. Our team of early childhood professionals interact with your child to provide an anti bias program which promotes the development of each child.

We value each child’s family background and experiences; we recognise the importance of having families feel part of the centre and encourage involvement where ever possible.

  • We acknowledge the Dharawal people as the traditional custodians of our local area and we respect their connection to land, water and culture.

  • We acknowledge that children belong first to a family and we respect the diverse cultures and uniqueness of each child.

  • We acknowledge the importance of children, parents, educators and other professionals in our learning community.

  • We believe that children need a strong sense of wellbeing for good physical and mental health, and a positive sense of self.

  • We believe children realise their potential through play-based opportunities to:
    - Imagine and create
    - Master skills
    - Have meaningful experiences
    - Express emotions, thoughts and ideas
    - Solve problems
    - Engage in questioning, enquiry and reflective thinking
    - Explore ways of knowing, thinking + learning
    - Engage with peers and nurture positive relationships

  • We believe the role of the educator is to develop children’s knowledge and skills through intentional teaching and assisting them to constructing meaning through collaboration with peers and interacting with the learning environment.

  • We respect and care for our environment and encourage children and educators to use sustainable practises in their daily routines.

  • Our educators’ value continued professional learning and reflective practise to continually improve our program.
